Main Bet Types in Roulette
Gambling is an activity that involves wagering a certain amount of money or something of material value on the outcome of a particular event or activity. There are a lot of different ways to gamble. These ways can range from something as simple as betting on the flip of a coin, or as complex and full of rules as a game of Texas Hold'em. A person can help their chances along by employing strategy and their knowledge of the game -should the game be skills-based, as many card games such as blackjack and poker, are- and by making more informed guesses based on money management and their knowledge of the game. However much a person may try to gamble wisely though, the results of a gambling game can hardly ever be accurately predicted. Ultimately, whether or not a person wins or loses depends on luck. One way to help a person's chances is to figure out the odds of the game, and bet so that the odds ultimately fall in their favor.
The game of Roulette is a popular game that many casino-goers enjoy. This game involves a spinning wheel with a set of numbered and colored pockets (thirty-seven for the European version, and thirty-eight for the American version of the game), and small white ball set to spin in the opposite direction in which the wheel spins. A person bets on the number, color, combination, or group of pockets that the ball will land in, and if it does so, the person wins.
There are two main kinds of bets that a person can make when playing roulette. Inside betting involves choosing a particular numbered pocket the ball will land in, or selecting a range of pockets in which the ball will land, based on the pockets' position. Outside betting, on the other hand, is when a person opts to bet on groups of pockets based on color, whether the pocket is numbered odd or even, or on the pockets' position. Each type of bet has a different payout, which is based on probability. The lower the chances of winning, the greater the amount of money a person can win. If, for example, someone opts to bet on a single pocket in an American style roulette wheel, their chances of winning are thirty-seven to one. This means that for every dollar that they bet; they will get thirty-five dollars back, if they win. On the other hand, if a person bets on every odd number, for example, their odds of winning would be 1.11111 to one. This means that for every dollar they bet, they will only be getting back one dollar.
